The Gambia Signs an Integrated Waste Concession With Zoomlion, Bundling Collection Trucks, Transfer Stations and an MBT Plant Under One Operator
At the State House in Banjul on 28 October, The Gambia signed a concession agreement with Zoomlion Ghana Limited that hands one private operator an integrated waste chain: a mechanical biological treatment plant, transfer stations, and the municipal solid waste collection and transport services that connect them. For truck suppliers, the deal is a reminder that in much of Africa the waste fleet is bought by operators running decade-scale contracts — not by one-off municipal tenders.

Cameroon's Hysacam Has Over 100 New Garbage Trucks Loaded for Shipment in a 305-Unit Fleet Renewal
More than 100 garbage trucks have been loaded for shipment to Cameroon under a procurement programme covering 305 vehicles, Hysacam — the company that collects household waste in Douala and Yaoundé — announced on 14 October 2026. The capital is to receive an initial batch of 30 trucks to reinforce the 90 vehicles already on its collection rounds, in a renewal that stretches back to an October 2025 order for 300 trucks and that, according to a Chinese manufacturer's own statement, includes a signed contract for more than 300 specialized waste collection trucks with a Chinese supplier. For exporters of refuse trucks, Central Africa's largest municipal waste operator is renewing its fleet in large, phased tranches — and the money question behind it is as instructive as the trucks themselves.

It arrives in the middle of an autumn in which, according to the grain exporters' association Agrocereale, between 150 and 300 lorries have been queueing outside the same crossing every day.
