The BYD5040XXYBEV9 is the BYD T5, a 4.5-tonne battery-electric logistics box truck on a BYD1040A3BEVC4 battery-electric cargo chassis from BYD Auto Industry, with 2 axles and 6 tyres on a 3,360 mm wheelbase at a 4,495 kg gross vehicle weight; kerb weight is 3,140 / 3,190 / 3,220 / 3,250 kg and rated payload 1,050 - 1,225 kg. The vehicle is battery electric with no fuel system: the drive motor is a permanent-magnet synchronous unit (type TZ200XSAX) rated 70 kW continuous and 150 kW peak, built by Huai'an BYD Industry, while the energy-storage device is a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with cells from Wuhan FinDreams Battery and the pack assembled by FinDreams Battery. The box body has a sealed, non-opening roof, with an internal length of 3,850 - 4,200 mm, width 1,900 - 2,100 mm and height 1,700 - 2,365 mm; body weight is 400 - 700 kg, the floor can be Q235B steel, timber, Q550 steel or checker plate, and the front and side panels can be high-strength composite, GRP honeycomb or aluminium alloy. Overall vehicle length is 5,995 mm, width 2,160 - 2,200 mm and height 2,750 - 3,425 mm; axle load is 2,020 / 2,475 kg, approach and departure angles are 18° / 15°, a speed limiter is fitted and top speed is 90 km/h. An optional hydraulic tail lift (stowed horizontal length 280 mm, tail-lift weight 350 kg) and a direct-supply ETC on-board unit are available.
