The CL5180ZYS6GX is an 18-tonne refuse compactor built on a DONGFENG EQ1185LJ9CDE cargo-truck chassis with 4×2 drive and 2 axles carrying 6 tyres plus one spare, at an 18,000 kg gross vehicle weight, 9,680 – 11,300 kg kerb weight and a rated payload of 6,570 – 8,190 kg. Overall dimensions run 8,660 – 9,600 × 2,520 – 2,550 × 3,200 – 3,250 mm depending on wheelbase and body configuration. The main equipment consists of an arc-shaped or square welded-steel body and a hydraulic compaction system: the 1.2 – 1.5 m³ rear filler receives the refuse, the packer plate compacts it inside the body at a 1:2.5 – 1:3.5 ratio with a 12 – 15 second cycle, and the load is discharged by rear tipping. Five wheelbases are available to match the route and payload requirement — 3,600 mm (about 7,900 – 8,100 mm overall, 8 m³, 9 m³ optional), 3,950 mm (about 8,110 mm overall, 10 m³, 11 m³ optional), 4,500 mm (about 8,950 mm overall, 12 m³, 14 m³ optional, the most common choice), 4,700 mm (about 9,150 mm overall, 14 m³, 15 m³ optional) and 5,000 mm (about 9,600 mm overall, 17 m³, 18 m³ optional with the arc body). Chassis wheelbases of 5,300 mm and 5,600 mm exist but are not recommended for standard 4×2 export compactors because of turning-radius and rear-overhang limits. The vehicle meets China VI (GB17691-2018) emissions, with a speed limiter and a satellite-positioning driving recorder fitted as standard; an ETC onboard unit and a rear-view camera are optional.
